Double Kumbets (Huseyin Timur, Esen Tekin Kumbet)

Huseyin Timur, Esen Tekin Kumbet It is in İkikubbe Neighbourhood.It is the small one of the double kumbets which is a little closer to the old Ahlat.W.Bachman mentions about this kumbet as “small kumbet).In the naskh written epitaph on the lento of the entrance door (on north) it is written that Boğatay Aka’s son Huseyin Timur became martyr on hijri Rajab month in the year 680 (Gregorian;november 1279).It has to be built on this date.In the epitaph on the lento of the east window, it is written that Husamettin Huseyin Aka’s daughter was passed away in hijri Shawwal month in the year 678 (Gregorian; February 1280).On the lento of the west window, verse (The Holy Quran 3/18) in Enlish: “Allah witnesses that there is no deity except Him” on the lento of the South window, hadith in Enslish: “Worshipers are the work of discretion.” is written. On the other epitaph 21 th and 21th and 22th verses of Tevbeh Surah: “Their Lord gives them good tidings of mercy from Him and approval and of gardens for them where in is enduring pleasure.(They will be) abiding therein forever.” İs written. At the bottom there is a 6,72x6,72 meters sized hexadecagon pedestal that was prepared by bevelling the upper corners of the cubic subbasements, above this pedestal cylndrical body, dome in ternally and tapered cone externally is fitted


The funeral part which is down the stairs from the east side is square planned.Above this is covered with an insert vault (monastery).To the southern wall pointed arched a deep niche was opened, in side is lightened with the window crenels on east, west and South walls. It is to pass by chamfers from the pedestal of the kumbet to its body.The plinth frieze between the body and the pedestal is interlaced motiffed that surrounds the entire perimeter.Cylndrical body is adorned with 30 cm. width vertical geometrical crossings.These adornment surrounds the entire body as a belt.On each of the four sections on the body has a rectangular framed panels with relief profiles.Above in the middle of each of these panels muqarnas de corated large window niches are opened.The borders that surround the area around these niches in u shape are treated as different from geometric patterns.Thus creates rich front view. On the braided belt which separates the body and combined with vertical plasters, epitaph belt was located but a large part of the epitaph was destroyed.In addition, under the eaves a belt with interlaced motif surrounds the whole body.Tapered eaves forming the upper cover is divided into sections with a round ribbed vertical line. On the molding of the entrance door there is the building epitaph.Body was divided into panels with niches arranged in the form of Bursa arch on the interior walls.Mihrab was placed on the southern front.The dome that covers the inside was made of cut Stone.
