ABDURRAHMAN GAZI TURBE


TIn the turbe, Abdurrahman Gazi who is the vexillar of the Prophet and Muaz bin Jabal’s son,lies.Abdurrahman Gazi went for an expedition in Hz.Omer period, with the Islamic army in the command of Iyaz Bin Ganem to eastern Anatolia.He was martyredduring the conquering of Ahlat and buried in the place where he was martyred. Place of burial isn’t exactly known, but it was thought that he was entombed near the place where the turbe was built because in the records of the ottoman Empire period the place where the turbe was built mentioned nowadeys as “Martyrs Hill”, or “Martyrs Zawiya”.Also in 109 th page of the 2nd volume of “Fitunu Sam” named vork of the famous historian Vakidi, it is written thad Abdurrahman Gazi gained the title of Gazi in the war that was made in Ahlat and he was buried at a location near the site where the turbe exist nowadays. Abdurrahman Gazi Türbe was built in 1974 by astonemason from Ahlat; Tahsin KALENDER in accordance with the Ahlat kumbets architecture.
