ERZEN HATUN KUMBET

Kumbet wasbuilt for Emir Ali’s daughter Erzen Hatun who died in 1396-1397 according to the epitaph.This structure which is more elegant than other kumbets is decorated finely.It shows a dense masonry. The burial chamber of the two-story kumbet is covered with cross vaults.It passes to dodecagon body from the square base by chamfering the corners.Circular planned kumbet is covered with a dome internally, a conical hat with two-stage membrane system externally. This structure is the most decorated one in the Ahlat kumbets.Almost every inch of the kumbet draws attention with its elegant decoration.It has decorations from the top of the structure to the bottom of the housing.A wide variety of floral motifs make a strong impression in addition to geometric ornaments.Base decorations reminiscent of other kumbets.Geometrical passing border with two nodes motiffed and a strip that has a face consisting of small niches surround the bottom of the body.Facades are made by niches with Bursa arched surface.On the faces except the ones on the four main directions, inside the bilind Bursa archs, there are

deeper triangle niches.This niches have upper ends radially-spreading grooves corresponding to the simplicity of the lower ends.Geometric or plantal compositioned borders surround these niches from the top or side. Border in this floral composition are located on either side of the Qibla direction.These borders, consist of palmette motif rows that two Rumis grasp by aligning successively.It is switched to dodecagon with two triangle chamfereds that occur in the four corners of the pedestal and cornice surrounding the braided edge all around the body starts right at the end of the pedestal.The weave pattern on the surface of the relief is just like the one in Hüseyin Timur-Sirin Hatun Kumbet.The braid width of 30 cm occurred by broken line on plinth completes the second belt skirt border as decorative borders. There are two types of geometric borders.Sharp corners on curbs axis extending sharp corners overlapping hexagons combined with each other or, alternatively, the sharp edges of the corners constituted by cutting each other hexagons.Thus, leaving the impression jumper by chain curb decoration was born, which consists of a hexagonal chain.These ornaments, surrounding a horizontal border of the upper part of the body.Other geometric borders, constitute positions consisting of passing stars. Surface of the kumbets, is adorned with rich motifs in Stone masonry by almost never leaving any space.Motifs are so be autiful and varied that Ahlat kumbets to be seen in a combination of so many motifs are covered as a masterpiece.Although there are lots of motifs they do not adverse to each other so all motifs cohere in a great harmony.
